gas in engine oil :(

so my engine started making some weird noises the other day and i thought maybe when i got an oil chage the other day, they didnt get the plug on good and maybe i was running low on oil. when i pulled out the dipstick, it was quite the opposite...way overflowed. when i smelled the paper towel i used to clean the dipstick, it smelled like gas...so i took it for about a 10 mile drive and it seemed to be sucking down the gas...started at a half tank, ended with a little above a quarter. now, these year trucks do not have an automatic gauge needle so maybe it just wasnt settled all the way...i dont know. either way, something is obviously very wrong and im freaking out so some one help me!

Check Fuel pressure at the fuel rail & F/P bleed down time. Your F/P regulator is shot &/or 1 or more injectors are hanging open. The two part test will tell you which one, or both.

You should change the oil again so the gassy oil doesn't wash down the cylinders. Then keep your eye on the oil level to make sure it's not rising above full.
If there is that much fuel in the oil there may be a fuel injector stuck open??

Yikes- I'd be afraid of driving the truck too much, if there's that much gas in the oil- it will ruin the internal bearings and prevent their ability to protect the moving parts because the gas will "wash" the oil off...and hence the oil's sticking abilty is lost.

yeah, i havent driven it since the 10 miles i did yesterday. a friend of my dads who is a mechanic is coming out today to look at it. he thinks the problem is one spark plug is bad and its just dumping gas into the crankcase. that would sure be nice if all i had to pay for was one spark plug and some new oil...lol

lol, well we replaced the distributor cap, roter, and all sparkplugs. ill check the dipstick in a week to see that the oil level is staying where its supposed to...if it doesnt, we have a bigger problem.

It means you have leaky injectors and/or it's running too rich.

Hummmm.... My guess is the same, a hung up or sticking injector. How has it been running? Hard starting? Anything different from before the problem started? Like ymeski had suggested, might want to take her to a mechanic that can check the Fuel Pressure- they would be able to narrow it down.
