Power Modules
Power Modules
I've done some searching on these forums and have found limited information - at least nothing lately - so I thought I'd come straight to the source. Since we're running "older" trucks, what are you guys doing about performance chips/modules?
(I figured this forum, rather than a powertrain forum would get better responses.)
I'm running a '93 F-150, 5.8L, 4X4, E4OD. I know about the ebay chips being only a resistor - that's out. I've read that Jet isn't well-received. Superchips doesn't seem to make a module for my model any longer.
What have you guys tried in your older trucks, what works and what doesn't?
On a side note: what codes will I be able to pull with my EEC-IV and OBD1? Transmission codes?

The best way to have power when you want is GOOD regular maintenance. Get a Haynes manual, read it cover-to-cover, then go back & do everything in Ch.1. Buy hi-quality parts (stay OUT of the zone) and don't "make 'em work" - install them correctly just the way Haynes says.

EEC-IV only monitors engine & trans circuits, and you can pull all those codes with a paperclip. Read the thread linked in this caption:

OBD-1 was a GM protocol; Ford never used it.
