460 in a 86 F150????

around town as your daily?

You need to look for an OD tranny or slap a gear venders on the end of that c6....

An OD isn't really necessary. A 460 has enough torque to pull a low reduction final drive, especially if the C6 has been rebuilt with the Ford Racing wide ratio gearset.

Ive been here done this.. On his best day with no OD he is going to do 12mpg highway if this 460 is anything worth mentioning. That is about what I was getting going 65mph and 3.55 rear end gears.

Around town it was smiles per gallon.

With a WR gearset in the C6 he can easily run 3.27/3.31 gears or even 3.08s and improve highway mileage by a bunch. As long as he's not trying to build a street racer, the 460 will provide enough torque to offset the shortfall in torque multiplication from the taller gears.

What about the computer? I plan the same swap but I am having a hard time finding anything out about wiring.

A carbed 460 will require a highly specialized and hard to find computer..

My old one i burned about a gallon to a gallon and a half a night making 2 passes at 200' a pass The new one will burn a little more and itll be on 111 (compression somewere round 12.5 13-1) and its 7 bucks a gallon....

Way back in the 70s, I had a Glastron-Carlson 23' toy with a 460 Ford Marine & a Berkeley jet. Great fun, but way thirsty.
