another update

i ordered new exhaust earlier this week. should be here on Friday. going back to the OE style setup for now to get me back on the road. i liked the sound of the donor truck with just cats and no muffler.

The powertrain harness for the 351 won't match your 4R70W.
i was curious about the differences in wiring harness between the 5.0/5.8, i checked my Chilton's engine harness diagram for the 5.0 and 5.8 and spent the last hour comparing the 2 and everything is the same between harnesses. everything is in the same # pin location between the 2 harnesses. i'll give it a shot with the 5.8 harness first as is is in way better condition than my harness

Look at the tranny connectors and their pinouts.

The E4OD and 4R70W use different connectors on the tranny and different pinouts on the same connector for the TRS.

Also check the main connector at the PCM. On my 96 which has an EEC-V there are minor pinout differences between the E4OD and 4R70W. I'm pretty sure your older EEC-IV would be similar

i got the motor in the truck today!!! it is almost done, just gotta bolt and weld up the exhaust. it starts and runs AWESOME! idles perfect, revs great, no hesitation. at first it did but i found a vacuum line came disconnected. i used the 5.8L harness as my harness was in real bad shape...

ill post videos tomorrow with open headers, then just cats, and maybe with super 44 if its still too loud... that is if i can find my other camera + cord as the one ive been using doesnt record sound.

my 21st birthday is in a couple of weeks, hopefully i can get a gear swap done by then. im still debating whether to go with 4.56 or 4.88... i do alot of towing, but i also do alot of highway/in-town driving.
