Proper way to disengage 4wd (auto hubs)

Today I had to put my truck into 4wd to move a trailer and my rear was spinning on wet grass. After I moved it out, put my truck into neutral and went back to 2wd. I noticed my right wheel still felt like it was engaged and it never did that before.

Had my rotors installed not too long ago and I had them look over the auto hub inners to make sure it was all ok. He told me everything looked good and he just greased it in there.

Before, I use to take it out of 4wd and drive away. Today after it was still engaged, I backed up about 10 feet, seems to be fine now.

So is that normal or is something not right?.. and what is the proper way to disengage 4wd?

Thanks!

Read the sticker on the back of your sun visor, or the owner's manual. If you don't have one, download it from Ford.

that is the proper way to disengage. you put it in neutral click 2wd back up about 5-10 feet and turn the wheel to the left. and that should disengage it.
