Ford calls those "Hi-Low Mount Bright Breakaway Mirrors". Most people call them "bubble-backs". The top 2 use a welded nut plate, but the screws can seize, so it's best to spray them from inside with penetrating oil before attempting to remove them. The bottom 2 use rivnuts (nutserts), and you DEFINITELY want to spray them. If they start spinning in the door skin, they'll work out over the next few years.

Click my black Bronco in my sig & look thru the top of the Flag Mount Mirrors album. You might also find some useful info in the Doors album.

are they the black oval style or the chrome square (like mine)?

if they are the same as mine, the screws should come right out without having to remove the inner door panel. the threaded nut is pressed into the door panel (same as a rivet). i've never messed with the other style before..

like steve said, spray them down
