96 e4od to 91 pickup

hello all, I have the infamous torque converter shudder on my 91 e4od. I flushed the tranny and it cured the problem for now, but this is the 2nd time the first was about 6k miles ago. SO i need a rebuild. However i did some research and found out that all the initial problems that the early e4od's had were fixed in 1995. My question is.....If i can get my hands on a 95 e4od, can i simply swap it out? I believe the later ones came with a trans cooler so ill have to make room but is the pcm the same from 91 to 95+96??? I know EEC has changed from EEC-IV(obd-I) to EEC-V(obd-II) but i have a 1988 bronco that had a broken 4x4 computer and my buddys 96 f150's computer fit right in and worked. IM hoping this will be the same...(please god)

Any input would be great!!!!
Thanks!
-Aaron

did you ever find out anything else? the only thing i have been able to find out was that it is doable but you lose the speedometer. i want to do the same swap with a 95-96 e4od into a 90 f150.
