New guy... Richmond, VA

Well... here goes.

My name is Chuck Colfax, I am a Firefighter in Henrico County, VA and I am new to the Blue Oval.

But not new to turning wrenches... been building, modding, wheeling and re-building Jeeps for the past ten years.

Recently started messing with those Red Bowtie wearing trucks, but now have found my way here.

A short history:

1986 CJ-7 rebuild, stock 258 I6, T5, D30/D44, 2" Rancho, 31's.
Another 1986 CJ-7 rebuild, fiberlass tub, SBC 305, TH350, NP205, D30/AMC20, 4" Skyjacker, 33's.
1994 XJ, 4.0L, AX15, 4.5" RE/Rusty's, 32's.
1998 ZJ, 4.0L. 42RE, 2" Kevin's BB, 31's. Daily Driver
1995 YJ, 2.5L, AX5, 4.5" Rough Country, 33's. Project Budget Build. (I'll post more on it later if anyone is interested.)
1989 Bowtie 1500, 4.3L, NV3500. Dead in driveway. (This was supposed to be the yard truck.
Was going to build a stout 350/TH350 combo for it.
Then rebuild the 4.3L/NV3500 for the YJ.
Not gonna happen now.
And I'll post more on that later too if anyone is interested.)

Which brings me to my first FORD!!!

Picked it up Friday night for $1000.

1992 F150 XLT 2WD, 5.0L, Automatic, with 113K.

Immediate plans are for a basic "tune-up". Standard stuff I do to any vehicle I buy.

Plugs. Wires. Cap. Rotor. Oil and filter change. Air filter. Coolant flush. Can of Seafoam.

And a good cleaning.

It needs tires. Prolly a set of 31" AT's. And a set of 2" front spacers to level it out.

It will mostly see use as a lumber yard, landscape supply, Lowe's, Home Depot, landfill runner.

And back-up DD if the ZJ is down for maintainance or repair and the weather is not nice enough for the YJ.

I'll be nosing around "Tech" alot and asking a lot of questions.

That's the story so far... I'll post some pics once I finish some yard work today.

welcome
i cant blame you one bit for wanting the 2" spacers. i put 2" skyjacker lift springs in the front of mine(mines 4x4) and it looks a hell of alot better.

Yeah... I know... been busy with other stuff...

Like trying to sell my 89 Chebby 1500...

And building a storage building to make room in the garage...

And my 10-month old son...

Worked on de-lettering the truck yesterday.

(I bought it from a guy who used to be in the business of "flipping" houses. But not any more. Heh. He had the company name and number and website all over it.)

And bought all the "tune-up" and oil change parts.

Got the new 31 x 10.50 BFG AT's mounted on Saturday.

Hopefully get to it this week.
