lift guys?

whats up guys. i have a 93 f150xl i6. 4x4. and i have been looking around for lift options and really like the 6" suspension with 35's. how hard would you guys say it is to do on the older f150's? im fine with doing it.. familiar with stuff like this just wondering how much time its gonna be layed up for.

also i'm still reading etc.. and are the extended brake lines really necessary? i don't want to skimp out if you know what im saying. but you never know they may not be needed.

anyways, if you have any other comments on the subject shout out.. im all ears.

thanks

you need the extended lines, i didnt install the 4" on my old 96 but after lookin at it it doesnt seem to hard. worst part is drillin out the rivets for your radius arm brackets

its very easy to install the lift... took me a day and a half to do in my driveway... the hardest part is those rivets but quick use of a grinder and they came right out... yes you do need extended brake lines.

While you're at it spend the extra for the DOT approved braided stainless steel brake hoses (Russell among others). they firm up the brake pedal and are way more damage resistant in an off-road environment.

Yea brake lines are a good idea. Im planning to do that same combo on mine sometime. what brand lift are you gonna get? and are you gonna re gear? keep in mind the ttb front axle seems to be a PITA to get aligned and all.

im still looking around at lifts. my buddy just put a rough country on his and he loves it. looking into them alittle right now.

and yeah i hate the TTB front end.. but im going to run it for now untill i get my hands on a complete solid axle, and if i wait a few months i might be able to ****** one for next to nothing.. so ill mess with the ttb untill then. not so sure on the regearing either but its def. on my mind.

i have 6" Rough Country on mine, i havent had any problems with alignment on my TTB... except for when i had a "hard landing" and bent the axle pivot bracket slightly, nothing a welder and some tube cant fix. at the same time i bent the drag link almost 3 inches outa place... lol

you dont really NEED brake lines... i have two friends that have had a 6in lift for a while and didnt put brake lines on it... just bent the brackets down. also the dont go offroad or mudding with them

I haven't put them on mine yet. But I do plan to, so for everyday driving, no you don't need them.

Also, the lift is not hard but definately GRINDER for the rivots on the control arm brackets. Alot of the difficulty of the install is dependent of the condition of the underside of your truck to start. You never know what you will find when you start taking off parts that have been on the truck for 12+ years...

...one other thing, when you do get brake lines, save yourself some $, check around at hydraulic supply places I found a place that is making mine for $25. Most of the pre-made ones are around $100.
