Valvoline 300k engine warentee + 1991 f150

hey all I dropped into my local nappa store today and saw this new valvoline poster and it caught my eye. Apparently valvoline is offering a 300,000 mile warentee on your engine if

1) its above 1990 model year
2) has less than 75,000 miles on it now
3) Use Valvoline sysnthetic oil for every oil change at least every 4000 miles
4) everytime you do an oil change (yes they allow you to do it yourself) you must logon and track it via valvoline.com

Goto Valvoline.com and they have all the details there, looks like they will cover upto $5k worth of repairs if ur engine fails while using the product.
ANYWAY I have a 1991 f150 and its got 135k on the 4.9l I6 so i disqualify but what are your thoughts about trying synthetic in such an old vehicle???

Thanks
-Aaron

I do not like changing brand, weight and especially not type of oil. Just old school that way learned from a father that was a mechanic. It has been noted on here that when you go to synthetic on a lot of the older engines you get leaks.

i'm not totally sure about the whole valvoline warranty deal, but i'm sure it would have to be lubrication problem if they do any warranties. so i dought a cracked block would be covered. but like i said i dont know anything about there warranty yet. i usually use valvoline in my truck and it does its job, i dont have any complaints. right now i have motorcraft synthetic blend in my engine and its done good too. it depends on what you would prefer.

For the record, sythetic oil does not cause leaks. It may, however, FIND leaks that conventional oil did not leak through.

Same difference as far as I'm concerned. If it is not leaking and when I put synthetic oil in, it starts leaking, it "caused" it. The stuff will get out where dyno didn't, that is all that matters.

I just went from valvoline max life partial synthetic to premium conventional. I don't know how long its been running the partial syn (i'm the third owner) but I think I might stick with the conventional.
