OEM Off Road Package / Skid Plate mounting

Hi All,

I just purchased a 95 SWB/Reg Cab F-150 XLT 4x4. It doesnt have the off road package, but I was able to locate NOS skid plates for my truck. The only problem is that I cant figure out where the Transmission Skid plate is mounted. Its a no brainer for the Transfer case and fuel tank but the Trans is not. I have the service manuals and they only refer to these in the removal process of the trans etc... They dont show where or how to mount.

I was hoping that someone could snap a picture of their truck with the OEM Off road package so I can get an idea of how/where to mount this. Thanks,

Never knew there was a trans skid plate for these trucks. All I have ever seen in the gas tank and transfer case plates, and thats all my 92' with the offroad package has.

Thanks for the reply -- I wonder if there is a difference with the 95-96 Off road package? Can someone with a 96/96 please look at their truck with Off road package and confirm? Thanks,.

Bump/TTT

Can someone with a 95 or 96 that has the off road package please look at their truck and tell me if there is a Trans skid plate. I looked at the service manual again and nothing other than step 5 of E4OD removal it says: Remove Skid Plate (4x4). I just need to know where and how it mounts. i.e. to the trans mounting or the frame rails......Thanks,

Ahhh-Haaa,

I figured it out! What I have is the Skid plate for the Mid/front Fuel Tank, not a Trans Skid plate. As I only have the after axel fuel tank, I have no need for this. It is NOS, never installed. If anyone is interested, pm me.

I bought a package deal of NOS skid plates that included the Front Fuel tank and Aft fuel tank plates and the transfer case skip plate with all hardware included. Anyway, just wanted to share with the group.

Thanks,

I knew I wasn't crazy. Didn't think about the skid for the second fuel tank though.
