Post Another dual question

I'm planning a custom dual exhaust and I have one question. It will be after the cat and i was wondering which would sound and perform better. Y pipe then 2 mufflers or 1 muffler then Y pipe.
Thanks
Nate

Cool

Depends on what you are looking for, but I'd go with y-pipe then two mufflers - more flow.

Cool

One muffler of similar design is louder than two. One high flow muffler can outflow two average flow mufflers. There are high flow mufflers that have way more flow than necessary to get the power out of that combination. If you go with the typical HP muffler, flowing approx. 400cfms., you may get more performance running two mufflers (if you had 2 pipes). Most of these points will be moot if you don't run "true duals" anyway, your flow will be limited by what feeds either setup; one single pipe (usually 2.5"). The first forward restriction limits everything from there back.
