whing noise from rear end

Question whing noise from rear end

whenever i accelerate i hear a whinig noise from what sounds like the rear end. does anybody know what it could be? i really dont want to have to put a new rear end in it any possible suggestions will be appericated! thanks jimmy my truck is a 96 f150 4x4 with the 302 im not sure what transmission i have though

have you changed the gears lately? a friend of mine has a mustang that was making a very similar noise and it turned out that the people that had changed his gears did not align them properly. the noise could also be caused by a low amount of fluid in the differential. is the cover leaking? you could drain all the fluid out of it and fill it back up and see if the noise goes away. thats all i can think of right now, but if i think of anything else i'll post it here for you. good luck!
