Post MSD ignition

Sorry for cross-posting this, but it's getting kind of hard to find answers.
I've already emailed MSD three times the last ten days, but no answers.
I installed a brand new MSD 6a ignition the weekend before last on my 1988 F150 with the V8 5.0L (302ci) EFI engine with the standard EEC IV tfi ignition module. I have the Accel 300 8.8mm Race spark plug wires, Bosch +4 Platinum sparkplugs, Accell TFI supercoil and Accel rotor+cap all less than 3 months old. Pictures at:

After installation of the MSD 6a the engine will stumble at idle and eventually die. Before stalling to a halt, it stumbles, picks up RPM, stumbles again etc. Frequency of this behavior is roughly 1-2Hz. It seems to drive ok, but that was difficult to judge, as I just drove it around the block. I followed the installation instructions that came
with the unit. The unit is not bolted to the car, yet, but the battery cables should have good connections (sanded the contacts before bolting them down).
If I take the MSD box out, the engine runs just fine (at 15.5mpg). The computer was reset just after installation.

Do you have any ideas what's going on? Should I send the unit back? BTW it's from carparts.com
Thanks for any help and sorry again for crossposting this.
