Damn fuel filter!!!!!!!!
Hey Dudes.
I want to change the fuel filter on a '94 4.9L.How do you remove the old one?
I pulled like hell on it but can't seem to loosen it.(yes, I removed the clips)I don't want to damage the fuel line, so I didn't try to pry it loose.
And there are 2 plastic clips in the filter box. Do I need those?

there is aspecila tool to remove it. YOU MUST HAVE THE TOOL. I hope you have not ruined the fittings by tugging on them. They are easily ruined. As for the plastic clips, you probably have the wrong filter. The FG-800 is not what you eant, you need an FG-872. It has longer fittings that allow the lines to be properly attached and removed.
Yeah, the tool needed is a K-D 3321, which is available at most auto parts stores for about $12.00. You'll use the smaller 5/16" end. And Nomopar4me is correct about the filter. You'll want to use the filter with the longer nipples. Using the shorter fitting will work, but the next time you go to change it, you can't get the special tool up on the fitting, which causes you to cut into the filter end(a BIG mess)to make a connection. I also advise to wear eye protection and bleed the line pressure, before starting. And of course, no smoking, dah! Hope this helps & good luck!

Thanks guys. The filter looks right and the #'s cross reference correctly.I will look at it closely when I remove the old one to see the ends are long enough. The fittings aren't leaking so I don't think the tugging hurt the lines. And my brother in law is a grease monkey, and may have the tool. Thanks again
