Question 95 F-150 I6 vs. 351

I'm looking at purchasing a 95 F-150. I'm debating between the I6 and the 351. I will be maining driving it empty. Once in a while I will be pulling a 2000lb boat and trailer. I would like to hear the pros and cons of each engine. What is the torque and hp of each engine? Any suggestions will be helpful.
Thanks

Both engines will do the job with ease. 2000# is virtually nothing for a trailer. The axle ratio is more important than the engine, you want a 3.55 with either engine. The 351 has more power, more torque and more usable RPM. In the same truck it should be a second or more quicker to 60 MPH. It is a better engine in every way except one, it uses more gas, maybe 15% more. It's your choice, if the difference in performance is worth the operating costs get the 351.

StrangeRanger is right. A 2000lb trailer is very easy to pull. I have a 95 2wd with the I6. A few months ago I pulled a 21 foot Searay boat weighing about 4500lbs and I had no trouble at all. I have 3.55 gears and a manual transmission. Going up hills with the load presented no problem for the engine. A I6 doesn't have near the torque as a 351, however it has a much larger torque curve. A 300 developes its torque at a low RPM and maintains it through a broad range on the tachometer. I have never owned a 351, but I am very pleased with my 300.

My 300 has 164000 on it and running strong. One other aspect the 300 has over the 351 is that they will last literally forever if taken care of.

Well i used to have a 94 I6 longbed. I recently traded up to a 93 Lightning (has a 351).

The difference between these 2 trucks is really amazing. Since you will mainly be driving it empty, you might want to consider the "fun factor" of a lightning. Not to mention they are great looking even when totally stock, and due to the slightly lowered suspension and different steering setup, it drives more like a sports car than a boat (which is what my old f-150 felt like)

Of course the 1993-1995 Lightnings cost a bit more than older F-150s, but they are worth every penny. You can get a lightning in fair shape for under 8 grand, and one in excellent shape for around 12. I paid 10k for mine with 70,000 miles on it, and in great shape.
