FYI, finished replacing Auto hubs
Just as an FYI, I replaced my auto locking hubs with a set of Warn manuals. cost, $103 hub assembly....$50 conversion kit, $19 for the 4 prong socket, $12.00 set of picks/hooks- to get out lock ring. First side took about 3 hours with a trip to NAPA, second side 20 minutes. I didn't repack the bearings at this time...it's too cold outside. I'll do that in the spring. I did notice that the spring around the outside of a auto hub section had a couple of stretched spots. Don't know if that's what was giving me trouble or not. My trouble was; every now and again the front would click and start a roaring/grinding sound. I'd have to slow down to about 5mph and it would clunk back to normal. Hope this helps to answer a few questions for those of you who haven't done this yet.
