front differential
It could be quite normal and OK. If you turn the drive shaft and only one wheel rotates, it could be the easier wheel to turn, and the other one stays still. Differential action at work. So, hold on to the rotating tire, or wedge a board or something under it so it can't rotate. Then, if all is OK, the wheel that was previously stopped should now rotate. There can be differences in friction from side to side, particularly disc brake runout.
A question on the lunging, is this in 4WD on dry pavement? Its Part-time 4WD, not AWD. If I'm lecturing, sorry. Quite a few people turning on part-time on dry pavement lately, shouldn't!

jim-nc, i have a 89 with 31x10.50. when i turn to the right almost to full lock my right tire rubs on the radius arm. you might want to look if the inside of the tire is scuffing the arm with the lugs on the tread. this will make it seem to lung abit. also a bad or stiff u-joint might cause a slight bind.

o.k., the problem is when in 4x4 and i turn a sharp corner the truck lundges really bad so, i put the truck on jackstands and turned the front drive shaft by hand.the passenger side shaft coming out of the diff. turns but, the drivers side doesn`t!hopefully it`s something simple but, sounds as though it is inside the diff.
any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Thats kinda odd. I have 31x 10.50 on my 1989 F-150 4x4 302/AOD and haven't noticed/felt any rubbing. I have heard of people having this, must be the tire ****?
