Low Oil Pressure!
In my 1996 F150, 5.0 I always begin with good oil pressure (right in the middle). After driving 20-30 minutes on many occasions the pressure will fall to the very low end of the normal range. I have never done anything because it was still in normal (barely). Yesterday the same thing happened, BUT the needle fell well below the normal range to the L. This was the first time that it has gone below normal; I HOPE!
While the oil pressure was low the temp gauge did not rise. Does this mean that the oil was really flowing and the gauge was broke? or will the oil keep the engine somewhat lubricated even if it is not pumped? And the last question would it be OK to drive to the dealership (10 miles) or should it be towed? Thanks -- Martin

Hey Martin..It appears Ford started to put in bogus oil pressure indicators around 86' or 87' to keep complaints and warranty work to a minimum. Go to the Engine forum and do a search for oil pressure gauge and read what some others have found out and have said. It was an eye opener for everyone including myself.........Les
