Thumbs up Minor Mods on 302

I have a general question. If this has been asked already please point me in the right direction. I have my 96 150 with the 302, auto, 4x4. I want to make some engine mods, but don't know what to do yet. I want to put an exhaust on it. I wanted to just cut off the stock muffler and clamp a Flowmaster in it's place. Just curious as to what everyone has done to there trucks.Any advice would be greatly appreciated as always.

check my mods...

I know that the 94 and later models used a better grade of metal for the exhuast systems Not sure if its aluminum. My 93 fact fell off in the driveway, at 3 years old and less than 50k....Poor quality.

Thumbs up

I have a 94' 302, just recently put a Gibson Super Truck Split Rear Exhuast system on my truck. So far it is the best modification I made. It sounds great, after 1000k mile break in, and can feel the extra horses. Price might be a little more than Flowmaster

You will have to get the mandatory K&N filter too.

Thumbs up

Yeah, there's alot of tweaking you can do to help out your 302. Those were my first mod.'s, the Cat Back exhaust and air filter box. I will soon upgrade the ignition, but I basically want to keep it stock. It's not a red light bandit and depending on how much you know about your truck, there is a ton of info and good people here to help with about anything you run up against. Excellent archive's too. That is where you can learn alot.... Enjoy this site

Pastmaster, what did you say about cleaning your throttle body before, I think it was you anyway, or someone said that it was a good investment.

Our engines have a duoble throttle setup, and the bores inside the tb get really cruddy. You need to clean them with a carb or tb cleaner and a brush, take the bypass off, and clean it. Its really simple job, and very effective. The 302 really revives after this is done.
