Angry Swapped F150 for an Escort

Wouldn't you know it, as the ordered F-250SD gets closer to delivery date my current F-150 keeps comming up with problems. Latest one is a major! Damn Tranny bound up on me Friday on the way to work. Had to wait 2 hours for a State Cop to come by and call a tow. Cost me $160.00 to get truck home. Spent all Friday afternoon on phone trying to get a replacement tranny if it becomes necessary. Went through the Yellow pages for respectable repair place. Hope the one I picked works out. Looking at a estimate of $1200.00 if the problem dosen't require a complete tranny. more like $2000.00 if it does. Cost me another $60.00 to get it hauled to mechanic this morning. Cheapest retal car I could find was an Escort from Enterprise $20.00 per day. Expect repair to take a week to 10 days. Worst part about it is the new truck won't be here till April. I was on the fence about trading F-150 in for new F-250SD, now with spending this, I can't justify giving it away. Made for a bad weekend, the Jim Beam distillery made a good profit from me. Tell you guys, I don't know how anyone drives these little cars. Feels like sitting inside an egg crate with wheels.

I know how you feel! My dad ordered a 1990 F-150 2wd with a 302 and the Aod in 1990, and pulled his 16' carhauler with it. Anyways, I rode with him, from Texas, and about Alva Oklahoma, about 4 hours from our house the tranny broke, and left us stranded about 10 miles south of town...It had given us warnings earlyer, but we were trying to make it home...My dad was cussin pretty bad by then, and lucky for us, we rented a truck to get home, and the dealer paid for the towing up to their shop...After we walked into town, 10 miles...Now, I don't go anywere without my cell phone...

BTW, what tranny do you have?

That is some bad luck. Nothing worse than major repairs on a vehicle you had already decided to sell. Might as well just send a couple of extra grand to Uncle Sam for all the good you will see out of the repair cost.

Pastmaster, It's got the 5 speed manual with overdrive, best as I can figure the model is a Mazda M5OD.
Got the estimate back today, repair should cost around $1700.00 won't get truck back until Monday next week. So, another $140.00 in car rental to boot.

Story has to have a happy ending....right?
