Unhappy 93 4x4 302 acceleration

Any kind of a load applied to the motor, either by moderate acceleration or an incline take-off load, the truck starts bucking and pinging horrible, but ease out of the trottle and most? of it straightens out. It does this through out the rpm range of each gear. Reminds you of being in 4th gear and doing just 20mph. and stepping down on it; lets you know you're in too high of a gear. Put a new cat-back exhaust on but didn't help. Thanks for any idea's.....Johnny

Check your plug wires. Seperate them as much as possible or replace them with quality wires if they are old or look bad.

Cool

Yeah, I've checked the basic's with the plugs and wire's. Got a K&N air filter, but haven't put it on yet..still reading the past posts on the oil and clogging the sensor problems. So much on tricking out the performance end of it with chips, side gapping plugs, speed density. I do like the idea's about increasing the cool air intake, but still got a few questions. But I think I'll start with my injector's and get it all cleaned up and possibly check the TPS and some of the other sensors. But I do appreciate all your guys' suggestions and idea's....

I installed a new set of plug wires some time ago... about a month after installing them, I developed a "miss" under load (similar to yours???). I checked everything- finally found that one of the new plug wires was bad. The #8 cylinder wasn't firing and the plug was wet. A new wire fixed it.

My suggestion is to get your truck running right before attempting any mods. There's not much you can really do to the engine unless you get a mass-air conversion or have a custom chip made to fit your mods.
