I Hate Check Engine lights...

alright, so i'm driving home from work this morning and my CEL comes on for a second, but goes off. i go get gas, heading home it does it again, so i check the codes, here's what i got...

#332 - EGR Valve Not Opening
#522 - Neutral/Drive Switch

As for the EGR, where can i get a block off?

What is the Neutral/Drive Switch and what does it do?

Thanks.

A Code 522, 525, or 528 resulted from the voltage being high at either:

-- Pin 10 = A/C input

-- Pin 30 = Neutral drive

while cranking the engine or during KOEO test.

Possible causes:

-- A/C circuit shorted to power

-- Clutch engage/interlock circuits open

-- Neutral drive/gear switch open

-- Damaged processor

-- Starter relay disconnected during Self-Test.

No, that would not do it.
It would have to be something like a bad starter relay or the start wire off of the relay when you did the test. Could also be bad wiring in circuit from the computer to the start wiring or a bad pin in the computer plug.

Does it start (crank) OK?

The EGR valve could be due to loss of vacuum. My check engine light is always on, I've changed EGR valve, Solonoid, rusted connector and all vacuum lines and my codes still say I have something wrong with EGR. I have an 89 with 4.9, my next piece to replace is something with the initials ACV.

I think you mean the EVP sensor.

Did you turn the key to the start position during the test?

For the EGR code, inspect the vacuum canister. Mine was throwing the same code intermittently and the canister ended up having a hole in it or restricted. I just bypassed it with a short piece of vacuum hose and problem solved.
