Steel or iron distributor gear?

Just a quick question, would my truck have a steel or iron distributor gear. It is a 1989 5.0 and the distributor is listed as having either a steel or iron gear.

It's most likely one or the other.

I figured that, all I can find is that a roller cam needs a steel. 99% sure that mine isnt a roller cam engine just want to be sure before I put one in and grind the gears off the cam.

I really don't know what to tell you. Is it out or can you pull the cap and look at it? Maybe see if it has casting marks on it and a seam, which would indicate it's cast iron.

Still in the truck, have to go and pick it up today. I'll take the iron one since Im pretty sure thats what I need. Guy said if its the wrong one they will just exchange it for a steel. Figure Ill just pull mine tonight and see if I was right.

Worst case I guessed wrong and Ill be driving a Caravan tomorrow
