leaf springs

on a 96 f150 how many leafs should there be on the leaf springs? also how do you tell if they need to be replaced.

i think it is 5 leafs. i changed mine last year because i broke a spring shackle. i upgraded to the 7 leaf heavy duty 3/4 ton. they are 2 inches higher than stock. if your springs sag very low or are cracked or broken/rusted though u should change them.

i ended up buying new ones and got the heavy duty ones which added atleast a 1 inch lift to it. when i removed the old ones the springs on the drivers side had a broken leaf in them and the passneger side ones were in pretty tough shape too. i just need to get a some spacers for the front now to leavel it out.
