shifting problem please help

shifting problem please help

with all of the cold weather we've have i broke something on my truck. its a 93 f150 5.0 with aod tranny. well long story short couldnt shift it out of park, forced it into drive, now there is an extreme amout of play in the shifter. what i mean is whit it in drive you can move the shifter between netrual and almost reverse before it ever dissingages. any help on what i broke and were to look.

First thing to check is look at the bottom of your steering column where the cable hooks up and see if the bracket bolts have backed out. If not,you've broken the gearshift tube assy. Parts are in stock at your local dealer (2pcs, outer tube and inner tube). They break all the time. Good parts guy will know what you mean. It will require at least partial removal of the steering column. I prefer to remove them completely. Knock out a couple of pins, and swap parts, no big deal. Pay attention how it is put together.
