Changing M50D (Mazda) Tranny for something else?

All you need is the ZF tranny and shifter. I used the cross-member that was in my truck.

'slides in like butter', assuming you are using a lift and a tranny jack as I was. This is not a job I'd want to do on axle-stands in my garage.

Yup.
The 250 "light duty" allegedly got the Mazdog.
If you're confused by the concept of a 3/4 ton light duty...you're not alone
