You will be better off just buying him a new truck. I'm sure if you find a 1990 cab, it would be attached to a truck that may be better than the one your trying to fix..........and you'll do way less work on it.

You can't put a '92-96 dash into an older truck, but almost all other '80-96 parts will swap. But the colors changed in '92, so you'd be much better off sticking with '87-91 parts in a '90 truck.

im not to positive on this but if u are going to buy a whole new cab like from a wrecker make sure its from a 4X4 if the one he has is a 4X4 as well cause my dad's truck is 2 wheel drive and his center up is lower than my and mines a 4X4 i have like an extra peice of metal bolted down above the trans

If you were to swap the whole cab, you would have to use the later dash...
Can the cabs be swapped?

I am not sure if the poster is asking about interior only when he says cab, or if he means the entire body cab...

If the cabs can swap, will the older bed line up with the body lines?

If not, can the later bed be swapped as well?

Just curious.

Yes the cabs can be swapped, and with exeption to the '80-'86 wheel well trim, the body lines are the same. The difference comes with the firewall being redesigned in '92 for the coming airbag in '94.
