I cross these two posts and it cranks

This is the fuse link that was rigged and blew apart. How would I go about fixing that?

That fuse link leads to here, the alternator.

The truck cranks, but doesnt seem to fire. I sprayed starting fluid down the TB and it still doesnt fire. How can I check for spark? I think I might put the truck on a trailer and bring it home so I cn work on it more, so there will probably be more questions, but they wont be as stupid as my previous questions, because the truck will be right in my garage.

THANKS

Fuse link will tend to be a smaller gauge wire than what it's spliced into - that's part of its function.

Need to replace this with the appropriate link material, with good connections on each end, and appropriately weatherproofed.

The issue with the alternator is correct - the OEM connector has a bad rep for melting/burning and all the related nasty things.

Get a voltmeter and measure the voltage on the lighter gauge wire of the starter solenoid when the ignition is in the START position. If you have 12V - bad starter solenoid/relay, if you don't, the problem is elsewhere - ignition switch block, etc.

Check for spark by either pulling a plug, or using a spare plug - make sure the electrode is grounded. Spark needs to be a good heavy blue, not a puny yellow.

Get that gas out of there by whatever means. Put some SeaFoam, Berryman, or whatever injector cleaner into the new gas. I suspect you will have a lot of gumming issues with the injectors with the truck sitting that long.

What is that extra solenoid thing to the right of the starter solenoid?? What does it connect to? Not familiar with it.

This generation truck has a good reliability / longevity record. Once you get past the issues with sitting idle for so long - you will end up with a great vehicle.

...and you couldn't have said "the 2 big posts" a week ago?!?!?!

What happens if you jump the BOTTOM to the SMALL terminal?

The package for the new fusible link will have instructions, and so does a Haynes manual.
