Both fuel guages not working
Both fuel guages not working
I have an '88 F150 4x4. Both tanks register empty on the fuel gauge.
I'm assuming it is the sending units because they quit working at different times.
Any help is appreciated.

Yep, if they both went at once the switch would be likely the problem.
You pretty much answered your own question.
Bad news is you'll need to drop both tanks, which isn't a tremendous job but a pain in the butt nonetheless.
Tip: Try to get the tanks as empty as possible before doing this. Either drive around for about 20 miles after the needle is on the E line (my truck will go about 25 miles past E until the motor starts to cough). Or use a vacuum pump to just suck/siphon the gas out.
