Trans cooler?
Trans cooler?
I know when it comes to autos heat will kill them, but I was wondering if a trans cooler is needed for towing a small fishing boat. The boat/trailer wont be more than 1200lbs. My truck is a 302, 2WD with the AOD.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I wouldn't say it's needed for such a light weight, but as cheap as they are I would put one one when you have a chance.
The plumbing is minimal, and you can add it in addition to the radiatior cooler already on the truck. Even without a load an automatic can be worked fairly hard in just high heat and stop and go traffic.
Compare tranny cooler prices to tranny rebuild prices as incentive!

Ill get one on there sometime soon.
there are few things that ford dose not provide adequate systems for but automatic transmission coolers are one. even if you dont pull a trailer put one on. and put the biggest one that will fit. it is a fun easy job and it will pay you back later.
I dont like the little plastic things that they give you to attach the coolers, I have had a lot of problems with them so I always make a bracket to attach it.
