Rusting oil pan on 95 XLT

Hey guys, has anybody come across recalls for 1995 F-150 rusting oil pans?? Or tips on what to do for a rusting oil pan short of replacing and $$$? Thanks.

They're not going to recall anything over 8 years unless it catches fire.

The only thing to do, short of replacing it, is to put a drip pan under it.

I've seen many rusted out oil pans underneath Ford vans. Replacing it is the only real cure. If you DIY, be prepared to jack up the engine and do some finageling with the oil pump over the top of the dropped pan before it will come out. I've had it done for about $300.

You could try some type of rust restorer, not sure how well it would work. I've taken to scraping the loose paint off and spray painting pans at oil change time.

Really the only fix is to replace it. You can try to clean all the oil off and spray that white foot powder all over the pan to pinpoint the exact place of the leak, and then try to slap some JBweld on there for a temporary fix, but it WILL start to leak again, from somewhere else. Some people say pulling the pan and coating the inside with a good sealant works, but if you go to all the trouble to lift the motor and pull the pan, you might as well do the job right and replace it. You can get a shop to do this, but expect to pay $400-500.

Adrian, I hear you! My oil pan is in mint condition! Course, could be because my front main & rear main leak like a sieve & have for years. I've avoided replacing them out of concern for the oil pan. Not due to laziness. No, really!

oil pan leak

Thanks for the replies, guys. My rear main is leaking too, so my ASE neighbor said to put 20-50 oil in it to slow the leak. Tried Bars Leaks for rear mains, but hasn't really worked.
