Rear brake shudder

Hey all, lately I've noticed a shudder like your on a bumpy road when applying the brakes on my 95 F150. I just rotated the tires, but am not sure when the brakes were last serviced as I bought it used last year. Front disk and rear drum. Something out of line, out of balanced tires, bad drums, ??? Seems to be not so bad when brakes are applied hard or pretty firm. Always get good ideas or help from ya all, so thanks in advance.

Sounds like warped rotors, but may be out-of-round drums. Mines a '95 F-150 & I warped two sets of rotors (probably from over/uneven-torquing lugs). Had no problems with original drums even after 237K miles.

Might jack it up & remove all wheels & drums and take a close look at pads, shoes, brake hardware, rotors, drums, & check for out-of-round on drums if you have something precise to measure with (or run 'em to a shop or auto parts place where they do, or will loan you one) & perhaps pull calipers & hang them (not disconnect lines) while you mike the rotors for warpage or runout. But it sure sounds like rotors just based on my limited experience.

Hmmmmm. . . I see a complete brake job in your future. Yes, I'm clairvoyant.
