87-96 Front Cross member

Hey all I'm wondering if you guys can help me out.. I have an 87 Bronco, but should be the same from the front seats forward as an F150. Well the front cross member where the passanger side I-beam bolts to is broken. Got a nasty crack almost 1/2 way through the cross member..

Is it part of the frame, i.e. welded, or can it be unbolted? I crawled under there and I think it's not removeable.. Trying to get other input on it.

If you're wondering how it broke, a TTB suspension with 40" boggers works wonders.

I don't want to weld it because it might just break it again.. Though I could reinforce it with some think plate and bolts, but I doubt I could ever get it to allign correctly.

I'm thinking of just buying a 87-96 F150 and moving all my lift, tires, motor, tranny over to it.. I've got to much into it to just give up..

Thanx for the input all..

Oh in case anyone is interested here is the specs on our BKO
87 frame and tub
90 doors, hood, fenders.
96 351w motor
79 C6 tranny w/ shift kit
8" Skyjacker SL with extended radius arms
3" BL
40" Super Swamper Boggers.
Stock gears.. (yea yea it sucks) but I have a 9" in the back and some 5:13's waiting to go into it. Then I just need to put the 5:13's in the front.

you can replace it just cut the rivets and replace with grade 8 bolts. I just love those lift kits they keep my family feed down here.

good luck it is not a fun job

Man it sounds like a big job..

Well actually pulling off the ttb's isn't hard.. I've gotten pretty quick at stuff like that.

i know you have a good bit of money in the ttb lift( my wife also has a lifted bronco) but what about goin witha solid front??i am sure someone will correct me if i am wrong here but... i was looking into doing a soild front axle and was told i need to find a f350 4x4 (has to be the same body stlye, so in your case 87-91)and steal all the mounting hardware that hangs the axle, you dont hafta use the dana60 axle that would be in it just all the hardware. then you can put a dana 44 soild out of a pre 1980 f150 in it. just a idea, like you havent already put some thinkin in it

I do believe the F350 has a different frame and it's not just a bolt and go..

The fabritech SAS kit is 1700 without the Dana 44.. I'd love to go Dana 60 but those are selling for 1600 and then I'd have to buy new wheels as well.

I have a line on a 1990 bronco with a Solid axle on it already for 1,300. If that's the case I'll grab it up and just move my springs, coils and pitman arm drop bracket to it and be good to go.
