oil leak !!!!!

oil leak !!!!!

last night i noticed oil all over my trans and located a leak at the top of the motor it is in the back near the pcv valve is this the head gasket?

Could be the valve cover gasket which is much, much cheaper and easier to change than the head gasket.

it is usually the valve cover gasket on the 4.9. you can try to tighten the little bolts that hold it on it might stop it but usually not. dont tighten them very much or you will distort the valve cover and it will leak more. try one turn to start with and if that doesn't stop it give it 1/2 more. you do need to remove the upper intake if you are going to change it. if so get a Haynes manual and fallow the instructions.

it is number 33. If you go to buy one just ask for a valve cover gasket for a 4.9 and the year of your truck.

thanks everyone ill look into it more this weekend once payroll comes along.

P.S. just finished my motor mounts.......easy but what a b*tch :/
