Change Flywheel

I've got a '84 F150 302 V8 sitting at the farm, it needs a new flywheel as it has now vibrated one of the seals loose, question is whats the best way to change it? I have heard you can just disconnect the tranny, jack it a little and drag it back and slide the new flywheel in. Can I do this or will I have to pull the engine? thanks

It would be easier to remove the tranny than pull the engine.

The transmission has to be FULLY removed to get to the flywheel. You have to unbolt the clutch diaphragm. Click my signature link & look in the NP435 album.
