the 240 or 300 is by far the best now mater what year it is. I like the later EFIs for stock engines, they get a little better gas mileage and they run sweet.

Also the little 144 to 250 block is a good one

Yup, best damn motor ford made. Sixtys to 1996 it is with the longest run made with no real big changes. '87+ with the EFI does add a performance and simple easy running any conditions.

Just rolled mine over 160K last night. I'm willing to bet I've whooped my boy a little harder than most people would want. Starts, idles, and runs like nothing else. I figured my mileage last night. Came in at a nice 5.3 mpg with a tonneau and no front bumper haha. I've got a "secret high flow exhaust" though I just kind of think that some people think the torque of a 4.9 is unbeatable, but in all reality it's nothing crazy. It's good for a 6 cyliner, but thats becuase it's inline. It is pretty good for towing though as the torque peak is low, and the band is thick. Still it's a work of art. In fact, I used my spare 5.0 for weight in the bed over summer hahaha

I get good mileage with mine. but I use mine for a truck. I think if you are trying to race it or dont understand how to drive it you can get bad mileage.

it is a truck engine they dont like to rev to high.
