Engine ?

I have a question regarding Fords 300 6 cyl.

I've heard in the past that the 300 they put out is bulletproof...I found a truck here in town with one...its a 90 full size extended cab 4x4 ,manual trans...i was thinking it would be a good wood hauler...what i was wondering though is that do any of you think the 300 can pull a car trailer w/load?

they arent asking much for the truck...just curious to what you guys think it can and cannot handle...

tia!

It'll pull the world.

That's a drop in the bucket of what I've towed. A loaded cement truck, an empty dump truck, a mobile office trailer, a 35' travel trailer, an old 45hp tractor w/loader+disc+bushhog, treated lumber stacked higher than I could see over on a 25' flatbed trailer, another Bronco, ...

You just have to know what you're doing & pay attention, or...

That happened under 45mph with a light car that I didn't load onto the trailer right.

The 300 will drag 15K up the same big hill as any powerstroke, but just might take a bit longer...

Six in a row, built to tow.

300 sixers are BULLET PROOF i am convinced that you can pour a cup of sand in the head and keep on goin... but they lack the interstate driving of a v8. i ruined a pair of rear tires in my 80'/81'/82'/83'/84'/85'/86'(it was rolled down a mountan and parted back together again) because i hauled a load (a whole yard) of brick chips in the bed(that was all it would hold with out spilling) so the bed was rubbing the tires but she had plenty of power to spare but the steering was very very light

i recently baught a 4x4 and my dad used to pull a 14' cattle trailer with about 8 cows.. and with the cows and the trailer it would come out to about 12000 lbs easy. it was a 2 wheel drive with about 250k on it. now thats impressive.

It was an offroad construction forklift. ~15Kip according to the trucking company I hired to haul it to & from the jobsite. My truck weighs all of 6Kip. Most Broncos weigh right at 5.

had a guy from a different bb tell me this

"DON'T BUY IT !!!!

Yes, the 300 has a reputation for being "bulletproof" but they don't have the power to pull a sick ~~~~~ off a **** pot.

I bought one used in 1998 from my wife's Uncle...it was a 1994 ext. cab 2wd model with a 5-speed manual. Not only did it get poor gas mileage (less than my '92 GMC with a 5.7 V8 and over 200,000 miles) it had no power to speak of. Additionally, shortly after I bought it I had to get te oil pan replaced on it because it rusted out from the inside out! First oil change I noticed some paint bubbles on the side of the pan. Pushed one of them and oil oozed out!"

I've heard the guy is kind of a jack*** so I'm just letting that go in one ear and out the other so to speak!

Hoping to get back over there this coming week sometime to check it out...hopefully its still there...with this cold snap we got here in WI I dont wanna leave the house and I'm hoping everyone else here in the state feel the same way!!!

I'll be sure to post pics if I end up getting it! But I'll warn ya know dont expect much...its just gonna be a work truck
