Shift lever getting hard to move

'93 F150, AOD x-mission. The shift lever is getting progressively harder to move. Could this be a simple lube problem or pending x-mission trouble?? If a lube problem, where to lube?? 'Mo

Look through these pics & their captions. Particularly, the plastic bushings for the shifter tube, & the 2 small torx screws on the FRONT end (toward the engine) of the tube. Those tubes are known to break (there's even a TSB & a revised part), so be gentle with it until you get it lubed up & working right. Fortunately, they're easy to find in junkyards - I have at least 1 spare.

steves pics helped me a lot when i replaced my bushings. in my case was they worn so much they actually disintegrated.

but if you take off the plastic cover you can see in there and tell what it needs. if the rod is bent then you will have replace that too.

I haven't had a chance to poke around a '92-'93 AOD, but common fer the '85-'91 mechanical linkages to bind up from rust. The PO never used D21 on the '88 and I had to take apart and clean everything to make it work.
