plastic oil pressure gauge feed??

my wife got me some gauges for christmas and i was putting them in last weekend, well i need to finish them this weekend, but i noticed that the feed for the oil pressure gauge was a small plastic hose... the only other gauges i have ever delt with have been much more pricey gauges and they came with copper tubing for the feed.. any one have the plastic tubing on their gauges??? just wondering how well it will hold up with heat and wear,i am going to wrap the tubing up in some wire loom to prevent a problem but i dont know..by the way they look real trick!

A lot of gauges come with the nylon tubing these days. Easier to work with and usually almost as good.

Modern plastics are much more durable than older stuff, so I'm sure it has been tested to withstand what it's designed for.

I wouldn't trust it either, but I wouldn't run a mechanical gauge, anyway. I don't like the idea of hot oil at 60 psi in the cab.

A lot of the lower end gauges use the plastic tubing. I have it in my F-150, it works fine just be careful not to kink it when your installing it.

Exactly! That's your biggest concern. If you don't kink the tubing during installation, and you crimp the fittings correctly, you'll have no problems.

Have a couple of gauges on my bulldozer with the plastic or whatever lines for pressure measurement. Pretty harsh operating conditions for anything. Never had a problem. Just be careful installing and DON'T kink them or let them rub on anything!! 'Mo
