Question First start of the day is difficult

My 302 has had problems lately.
This one is when I try to start it for the first time it won't.
I pull the pipe off of the throttle body and hold my hand over it and choke it while cranking it and it starts!
After that it hits right off all day.
Fuel filter just replaced a month ago.
So what is it.
Fuel pump?
I don't have a pressure gauge.
Need help!
Checked the codes and got a 13
Checked it at AUtozone on a better checker and it was a 31 and 41.
What is a HEGO??

Thanks

code 31 is pfe,evp or egr circuit below minimum voltage.
code41 is no HEGO switching detected and HEGO sensor circuit indicates lean
Good Luck.

HEGO sensor = Heated Exhaust Gas Oxygen sensor

When the truck first starts it is running in open loop so the 02 sensor should not affect how the truck starts, however it is another problem that should be taken care of. Holding your hand over the throttle body restricts the air flow into the engine making it run richer, so you could have an iac valve sticking open, or a fuel pump or injector thats bleeding down over night. I would maybe start with putting a fuel pressure gauge on it and seeing how fast the fuel pressure bleeds off after you shut the truck off. Unless anyone else has any better ideas?
