DPFE part#

c2t91,

Do you have the metal DPFE sensor or the plastic sensor? They are interchangeable...........metal one made by Kavlico and the plastic one made by Motorola (actually, as of July 2006 it's now made by Continental, as Continental bought Motorola's automotive group). You can only get the plastic one now.
I'm doing this from memory, but I believe the part# is either, F1AE-9J460-AA or F1AE-9J460-AB. Both part numbers were produced in both the metal and plastic versions. I don't remember when the switch over was made. The difference between the two part numbers is in the output voltage as a function of pressure. The "AA" version with no pressure applied to either port (both hoses off of sensor) should be .450 V ± a tolerance. The "AB" version with same conditions should be 1.000 V ± a tolerance. Both parts should show an increase in the output voltage with a positive pressure applied to the larger diameter port or a negative pressure (vacuum) applied to the smaller diameter port. To power the part up either leave the vehicle harness plugged in or power it up out of the vehicle with a 5 V power supply. Connector to your left and up and ports pointing away from you: Top terminal = 5 V, Middle terminal = ground, Bottom terminal = Output Voltage.

This is more than you asked for, but I happened to have the information at my fingertips!

DPFE part#

PKRWUD,

Thanks for the invite............pretty cool site. I just happened to find this site searching out some tailgate information. Saw the DPFE question and just had to add my 2 cents.

c2t91,

I have some corrections to the part numbers.

.450 V sensors:
Kavlico sensor part# F7UE-9J460-AA
Motorola/Continental part# F1AE-9J460-AA

1.000 V sensors:
Kavlico sensor part# F48E-9J460-BB
Motorola/Continental part# F77E-9J460-AB

Roughly, the .450 V sensors were used between 1991 and 1999, therefore your 1996 vehicle would have the .450 V sensor. And I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you have the metal Kavlico sensor.

Good luck!,
Greg

They must've run out of the newer ones at the factory, my 01 F150 came with the metal F7UE9J460-AA version ,Ford sold me the 4U7Z-9J460-AA smaller plastic cheesy one & it will not mate up to my wiring harness, go figure.
