Overdrive issues - '95 F-150

Anyone experiencing this?

The fuse #11 blows. Controls overdrive, speedometer, odometer, and inside cab lights. I only really care about the overdrive, I do a lot of distance driving and it eats gas like crazy now.

I took it to my mechanic. He swapped another fuse, it is big oval and metal. I guess it is a fuse plug-in?

Worked great for about two months, no issues. Then the fuse popped again. Swapping the other plug-in did nothing this time. Fuse pops the second I put it in, doesn't even wait to start the truck up.

My guess is that I need to replace the shifter because that is where the overdrive button is. Anyone have any other ideas?

You have a short somewhere between the fuse and the load. Get out the multi-meter and start tracing. It's an ugly job, but no way around it. If you just throw parts at it, you'll have to be real luck to swap the right one.
