Purge Solenoid
Purge Solenoid
did a search and didn't have any luck.
I have a '96 F-150 5.8L. It runs fine. The check engine light came on, and the code is P0443, "Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit". I got a new purge solenoid, hoping this will cure the check engine light. My question is, where the heck is the Purge solenoid located? Is it in the engine compartment near the vapor canister?
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!
It's on the right hand side of the engine towards the front on the intake manifold, near the DPFE EGR sensor. Look for a black 2 wire connector on the valve. One of the wires is red. The other should be light green/black if the wiring for an EEC-IV uses the same color pattern as the EEC-V. It is connected to the carbon canister and to the throttle body by vapor hoses.
OK, I took a look around, but it is still rather confusing. One immediate find was a disintegrated vacuum line coming off the throttle body. It was coming from a nipple on the TB that connected to a lone plastic tube that connected to a black box near the fire wall. I think this "black box" is connected to the carbon canister... Is the carbon canister located below the battery (and off set towards the motor)???
Could this line being torn cause the check engine light? I disconnected the battery to reset the PCM. I hope this works. How long should I wait until I try to have it smoged again?
Thanks!!!
