Anyone ever seen/read the Stephen King book/movie Christine? You know, the evil car that has the backwards-running odometer and gets newer rather than older?
Every time I take my truck on a long trip (100+ miles) and push it hard it runs smoother, quieter, and gets better mpg. I think if I take enough long trips I could make it brand new!
Seriously, I took it out this weekend, went 70+ up some pretty steep hills-- 6% grades-- and got 16 mpg out of the deal! I filled up at the top of the hill too, to make sure the mpg wasn't skewed by the downhill part. And the thing is so QUIET now, even my wife commented on it.
I'm thinking of renaming it to Christine-- and I'm OK with the whole evil thing, but that'd also make it a female...and then it'd be moody, require higher maintenance, and not want to start 3 days out of the month.
Oops, did I say that?
