Hello,
The "red button" your talking about is the inertia switch. If the vehicle is involved in a hard collision or rolls over, the switch pops to prevent the fuel pump from running if there is a fire or something. It has to be reset by pushing it back in. On the fuel rails there is a valve that looks like a metal velve stem with a valve core in it, push the velve core with a small screw driver or something. Watch out for the mist of pressurized fuel. I reccomend wearing googles or safety glasses. Hope this helps.

i just did a search some people are saying the intertia switch is behind the kick panel on the passeger side, others are saying its on the drivers side kick panel and yet others are saying its right near the brake pedel l am at work now so i can not look in these three spots. For time sake does anyone know where the inertia switch is on a 94 f150 with an automatic trans and a 302v8?
Hello,
You do not need to worry about the Inertia Switch. That has nothing to do with what you are doing!!! The only thing you need to do is bleed the fuel port on the fuel rail like I stated eariler. You can listen to others and find out the hard way, or listen to me and make life easier on yourself. Not trying to sound like an ***, but I do this for a living in the USAF.

It should be on the drivers behind the kick panel, there will be a flattened out spot and like an indention near the top of that panel. All you will be able to see or feel is a hole you can reach into to reset the switch, you may be able to see the top of the red button. To depressurize you still need to take off the kick panel and disconnect the switch and run it out of gas, I have always pulled the fuse or relay for the fuel pump and let it run out.
