I second the tranny cooler.
And make sure your brakes and tires are in good shape.
Personally, I would get lower gears and not bother with most of the rest of what you've got listed. Lowering the gears makes everything not work quite as hard, and the 302 is ok with revving a little.

While you're plumbing in the aux. tranny cooler, you might want to consider a remote tranny filter like the units from Perma-Cool They increase both cooling and filtration and give you a convenient place to mount the sender for the tranny temperature gage. It will save you from having to drill and tap the side of your deep sump aluminum tranny pan
If you think i'm obsessing about heat you're right. Nothing, absolutely nothing, kills a tranny faster than getting it too hot and towing adds a lot of excess heat which you have to get rid of somehow. I've added all of the above to my E4OD so I'm not just blowing smoke

thanks for the help, if you have any more info please post it.
also if any one knows of a good place in san diego to get work done let me know right now it's at $650 for rebuild w/ 3.55s but i can get the parts off line for 240 and can't see paying all the rest for labor.
and now i just found out that I would have to do the front gears too. did not know that. found out from the guys at Brendspeed(very helpfull and on e-bay)574-834-7455. so i'll just go slow and add another cooler.
