One fuel pump or two?

I have an '89 - manufactured 11/89. It has the dual tanks. Does it have one or two fuel pumps? I read in the Chiltons 89s had two - 90 has one. What's my truck considered?

I'd expect it would be considered a 1990 model year, since they come out with the new year so early. The've been selling "2006" models for how long already this year?

Why are you asking, though, is it causing you problems?

See post "is it the fuel pump?" I left a few posts from the top. I don't hear the pump(s) energizing when I turn the key 'on'. Is that the sound (or no sound) of a pump dying?
thx

You may have 3. One low pressure pump in each tank and a high pressure pump on the frame rail

There's nothing but the filter on the rail.

so, other than the noise (or lack thereof) any other issues-- stalling, sputtering, hard start, etc?

Also, a couple of other questions--

how long has it been since you changed the fuel filter?
have you ever run it totally out of gas?
