1977 F150 4x4
I am new to the board and wanted to introduce myself and ask some questions. I live in Augusta, GA where I attend college, but I am originally from the Albany, GA area. I just purchased a 1977 short box, F150 4X4. I plan on lifting the truck soon and adding larger tires and rims. Does anybody here know of a good website to find info on what lift/tire combos work well on the 1977 F150? I am considering a 4 or 6 inch lift and some 35 or 38 tall by 14 to 16 wide tires on some 15x12s or 15x14s, but I want to make sure it is a combo that works and looks right before I buy anything. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Cottondoc

Hey, i also have a '77. These trucks look awesome lifted. Right now i have no lift with 31x10.5 tires, but the truck will fit 33's with no lift. I plan on lifting the truck 9 inches in the spring after i rebuild the trans (its the original w/ 150k on it). 35's look nice with a 4" lift. I have had many lifted trucks, you might want to go with 35x12.5s on 15x10 wheels if your going to drive it on the street. The wider tires make the truck hard to drive on rough roads and wear out steering parts on a yearly basis. Plus you run into clearance issues with the radius arms and the frame. Any brand name lift kit will work well, i usually buy from superlift, i usually like to go with recurved leaf springs instead of blocks in the rear if you plan on really pounding on it offroad.

Thanks for the info guys. I will check out the bronco site. I called a 4x4 shop today, and asked about a 6 inch Skyjacker. They said I would likely have to lengthen the driveshafts on a 6 or even 4 inch lift. Does anybody know if longer driveshafts are needed with a 4 inch lift? I didn't think that would be necessary, but I may be wrong. Thanks again for the help.
