Question 96 F250 Blows Dash Light Fuses

I have a 96 F250 Heavy Duty Long Bed that randomly blows the fuse that controls the Tach, Fuel Gauge, and other dash gauges. (always the same fuse and always only 1 fuse)

It never occurs in any type of pattern. A/C on or off, heater on or off, day or night, weather rain or shine - hot or cold, etc.

It has blown a fuse as quickly as twice a day and as far between as 6 months.

The last time I changed the fuse was about 6 weeks ago.

Any ideas where to start looking??

I replaced my dimmer switch in my 93, I had to slap the dash to get the lights to come on in the dash and the tail but headlights came on. It may a fried wire in there mine was smoked badly. Good luck.

Check the two bolts that hold the third brake light in. They have been known to wear through the harness and cause intermittent shorts blowing the fuses. If so, just grind the screws down about a quarter inch.
